Friendship

I wonder how my friends view me. I wonder whether I am a good friend or just a fair-weather friend.

There was an accident that happened in my housemate's friend's fiance's family. So, she's been at her friend's place since Tuesday. I wonder, if something like that happened to a friend of mine. I wouldn't know what to say or do. I surely wouldn't have thought of going to my friend's place to stay over and all.

The other time when DMNK was in a very bad mood, I tried thinking of what to say to him, but I just went silent over the phone. So I gave him some time (of which he then managed to wreck his room and destroy the towel hanger in his bathroom) to vent off his anger. After dinner, I texted him to see how he was. Since he had cooled off, I suggested taking him out to Crown to get away for a while. I think we had fun, and he managed to forget about the whole drama for a while.

I guess that's my approach. I give them space to cool off first before I go in to console them.

But there're other things which would question the kind of friend I am. When friends ask me to club, and I'm tired (which is almost all the time), I wouldn't bother going. But then again, maybe clubbing isn't something that I really look forward to. Will write about that some other time.

I do what you do too when someone is in a bad mood. I'll let them cool off and when they're ready to talk, we'll talk about it. I can't stand drama. Rather listen to them while they're logical.

Helping a friend in need is a good friend. so that makes you a good friend. :P

well.. there's never a right thing to say when your friend is angry.

different approach for different people. although i dunno what kind of person dmnk is, it seems that letting himself to cool off would be the best approach (though it involves breaking his house's stuff and probably losing some money). but you never know, if you had said something to him, he might have not wreck his house at all. it's all pretty situational.

but u can tell your friend not to wreck his house next time. i always think that breaking stuff is not exactly a great anger management method. try somthing else.

andy: lol. that was the same thought I had when I rummaged through my closet last night - nothing to wear. Arghhh! I'm definitely going shopping in HK next year!

Thanks for the call too.

defiant85: But the thing is, I don't know if I help enough. Like, is there somewhere I can read to help me know what the benchmark is? Coz I'm not sure I even meet the benchmark.

meteor rain: I find venting my anger at the gym a good way. That way, I not only get to let it out, but I get fit and can lift heavier weights too. Like the other time, when I was in a really bad mood coz nothing was working out at work, my trainer was like, wow, you're really on fire today. And I'm like, yeah, that's all my anger I'm letting out.

johnnie boy: Omg...I don't go to Crown that often. And I don't dislike clubbing. Just dislike it when I'm tired and all I want to do is stay home. But the last one is me. Hehe.

idiot with an opinion: In winter weather? How about pot luck? :)

DMNK: Hehe, was it coz I cheered you up or the beers that you had? But glad you said that.

Nah, don't need any shopping. Just come back safely. I miss you.
